Home away from Home

So, we are back in Lusaka now, our home away from home. We traveled from Kitwe to Lusaka on Sunday, just in time to celebrate our 4th of July. On Monday, it felt like we were back at home. It started off with 26 of us singing every American song you could probably think of. We then had a friendly but competitive game of kickball and volleyball, which our team lost :( We had an interesting adventure of making ice cream sandwiches, who knew it would be so hard to bake chocolate chip cookies in Africa. We had an American feast of hamburgers and some type of hotdogs, french fries and watermelon that our hotel made us. It ended with our wonderful guys surprising us with fireworks, praise the Lord none of them lost any fingers:) But it was a wonderful 4th!
On Tuesday we went to NGombe Compound, which is a very poor off neighborhood and shared the gospel with those in the villages. We teamed up with a local church in that neighborhood. It's amazing how plentiful the harvest is here. it has been a privilege and honor that the Lord has enabled us to see so much fruit. We have seen 192 people come to Christ in just 3 weeks! One cool thing I always notice when we go into these neighborhoods is how many kids show up and follow us. It started off with a few and then grew drastically to around 50 kids. One little girl, Ruth was by my side until I got on the bus. It always makes me think of Jesus, and how the little children would come to him.
We started ministry at Evelyn Hone College here in Lusaka yesterday. We were able to share the gospel with one girl, Mwala who is already a believer. We were able to encourage her in her relationship with the Lord and will meet back up with her on Friday to go through a bible study with her. She is soooo eager to grow in her relationship with the Lord. We also talked with a room of 4 girls who shared with us their struggles of peer pressure and partying. They were very eager to learn how to resist those temptations. They all ended up rededicating their lives to the Lord. We will be doing ministry at Evelyn Hone for the next week and a half. After that we will head to Livingstone to debrief. I can't believe how fast this trip has gone by, but soooo amazed at what the Lord has done and we have only been here 3 weeks.
